Random generator

Pick random numbers, roll dice, flip a coin, draw names from a list or generate UUIDs. Every result uses your browser’s cryptographically secure random source.

Generators

How the randomness works

Every generator here uses crypto.getRandomValues, the same cryptographically secure source browsers use for encryption keys, rather than Math.random. Ranges use rejection sampling so that every value is exactly equally likely, with no “modulo bias”. “No repeats” draws without replacement.

Need a secret instead of a number? Use the password generator. Need random test data for an API? Format it with the JSON formatter.

Frequently asked questions

Is this truly random?

It’s cryptographically secure pseudo-randomness seeded by your operating system’s entropy, which is unpredictable for any practical purpose including draws and games.

Can I generate numbers without repeats?

Yes. Tick “No repeats” and the numbers are drawn without replacement, like a lottery.

What’s the largest range?

Up to about 9 quadrillion (2⁵³) for single numbers. For no-repeat draws, the range must be at least as big as the count.
